That fire analogy is some powerful writing Sam. You're right, some people haven't clocked that your'e posting on a Tuesday...but your regular readers would notice if you stopped showing up. So holding yourself to account on a Tuesday, week after week, that's consistency and that's what gets results, whether it be staying sober or training for an ultra marathon (or both).

Thanks Charley! Glad you get it.

Hard things get easier through consistent repetition. Same goes for running. You can't build distance any other way than spending time running. You just have to do the work.

Gday Sam, Ive just discovered Sobering Thoughts this week and have read them all. They are great. You are making a difference and an impact from a 50 something, 2 year sober, regular (maybe not quite as irregular as some) guy! cheers Ian

G'day Mate,

Thanks so much for reaching out! I'm so bloody glad you've enjoyed them. Now and then I get a little bit of impostor syndrome and wonder how people are receiving them or if anyone really benefits or cares about them.

Fuckin' amazing work on two years, mate! That's brilliant! It's bloody tough some days! How are you feeling about it all? Physically and mentally better? Whats the plan moving forward? I would like to be sober forever, but I'm not going to put that pressure on myself. Being sober for today is enough.

Messages like this motivate me to keep at it. I need to anyway because it's just so bloody cathartic and knowing others enjoy it or benefit from it give some peace of mind, so thank you very much.

If ya think anyone else would benefit from it, share it with them! That's what motivates me! While ever people are benefiting from it I'll keep at it!

Awesome read and great to hear Susan is on the mend.

"you can’t help someone who ain’t ready to help themselves" - 100% and I've made this mistake so many times with trying to help people to eat better.

Thanks mate, early days but fingers crossed she hangs in there.

Yeah I try to remind myself of how I react when people try to tell me all about some thing they’ve recently discovered that everyone in the world needs to do as well. Sorta like, thanks mate, I’ll let you know if I wanna know more.
