Such an influential age. So much of what I did at that age was influenced by the opinions and thoughts of others. That influence was far too strong for me to ever consider what I actually wanted. I let my desire for validation from others brainwash me into thinking I wanted things that I didn’t actually want.
I hope he gets something out of reading it. I’m sure he’ll be alright with an old man like you!
Of course, because for that part everything needs to be considered, safe and reasonable. It's risk averse. Which is fine. But what size reward will you get with minimal risk?
Mate I’ve just taken the 12 month leap after the universe cleared the path for me. I’m calling it my part time sabbatical (as I still need some income to survive). I’ve enrolled 3 days a week at TAFE for a Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs for the year, with work offering a 2 day contract. Not sure where the Cert is going to lead me, but I figure I’ve got the year to explore that. I’m in a slightly different life phase to you, but never thought a couple of years ago I could take a break from getting up to work every single day. Sometimes things fall into place for a reason.
That’s so good! I’d love to do something like that one day.
I think there’s a lot to be said about going with the flow rather than against it and but always being observant and looking for opportunities. The difficult part is having the courage to take them.
You don’t even need to work in that industry. I’ve considered doing a PT course solely to learn more about it. I don’t want to work in a gym, but I want the knowledge for myself. Why do people always think that what they learn needs to be relative to a career path or job!?
I think what you’re doing is admirable and more people should do the same when an opportunity presents itself. I think there’s more opportunities out there than we realise. We just miss them because we’re not present enough to see them.
It's interesting how when you tell people you're studying the first question that usually follows is, what do you want to do with it. Learning to gain knowledge needs to be normalised I think.
Thanks Sam, love the wolf....Ive just sent it to my 17 yr old son who (i guess like most of us at 17) is right in the middle of that conflict, cheers

I’ve found that logical and rational part of my brain to be the part that’s afraid of the unknown.
Of course, because for that part everything needs to be considered, safe and reasonable. It's risk averse. Which is fine. But what size reward will you get with minimal risk?

Agree! Knowledge is wealth! More you have, more you can share, the better off everyone is!
