When I first started listening to audiobooks and podcasts I was really hard on myself. I would force myself to listen to books or pods that others said were good, even if I didn't enjoy them. I would rewind parts where I found myself drifting in and out because I thought I HAD to listen to every word.
I've since realised that I don't have to do that. If I listen to a whole book and take just one good lesson out of it, I'm in front. The same goes for podcasts. If I'm listening to something and I'm really not enjoying it, I'll just stop. The big-picture goal is to make day-to-day life better and easier. To feel better, more of the time. I have to remind myself of that sometimes. When I'm finding it frustrating to listen to something, I'll just stop. Can always revisit it.
The benefit is, you can digest information whilst doing other things, Travelling to work, exercising etc. We really are lucky to live in the age we do where we have so much access to such a huge variety of information within seconds and we have the tech to digest it whilst doing other things.
I wasn't in the mood for information this morning when I was training, so I just listened to music. There's no point forcing yourself to do something you don't absolutely have to do, especially when you're not in the mood for it.
I've listened to that, but it was ages ago, I should revisit it. It's very popular. Must be something good in it. haha.
Thanks for the kind words, mate. Hope you get that sunblock out of your eye, haha.
Strava is underselling your fitness massively.
Maybe? Probably doesn’t take gym into consideration and I haven’t been running that much.
“I think most of us are spending too much time worrying about shit that will never happen and we’re not able to enjoy right now because of it.” - 100%
