Foremind - Lived Experience Interview
I sat down with Foremind to talk about Drugs, Alcohol, Mental Health, and living with ADHD.
A few months ago, I sat down with the CEO of Foremind, Joel Anderson, to speak about my lived experience with drugs, alcohol and living with ADHD.
Foremind is the first worker focused wellbeing platform in Australia, combining real time counselling with content that has been written specifically for workers. In light of the recent Psychosocial Hazard regulations we also allow companies to manage their risks as well as allow workers to anonymously report hazards so we can assess and control them before they reach crisis point.
Our missions is to reduce suicide in key industrial sectors across Australia and our vision is to make it simple for organisations to put mental health support in the pocket of their workers.
We understand that EAP isn't just providing a phone number to call when you need it. We are proactive in our approach and have developed an array of support material to provide convenient support to your workers while helping you maintain your compliance under the new Psychosocial Hazard legislation.
The idea behind the videos is so that people who are struggling can see that there is a way out. That things can and do get better.
Foremind is big on using the stories of everyday people who people can relate to, rather than a scientist, athlete or actor who has access to greater resources than the common Australian, and that’s why I’m such a big fan of Foremind and the work they do.
I was a little anxious about sharing these, but it’s important to me that my actions align with my values. So I’m sharing them in the hope that they help someone out there make the decision to finally pick up the phone with a friend, a counsellor, or a medical practice and make that appointment.
With the benefit of time past and some hindsight, there are probably a few things I know now that I wish I had added. Still, we chatted for over 90 minutes, and Joel and his team managed to filter through a lot of dribble to pick out the best nuggets and edit them into a couple of neat little packages to not take too much time out of your busy schedule.
I hope you enjoy them and get something out of them. Most importantly, though, I truly hope they help someone.
Drugs and Alcohol.
ADHD.
Foremind is looking to recreate as many of these videos as possible to help reach a larger network of people.
If you think your story could benefit others, please reach out to me or Foremind to get the ball rolling. You might just change someone’s life.
Cheers Wankers.

Nah, I’ve actually stepped back from LinkedIn a little just because I’m a little worried about my professional and outside of work life crossing too much, especially given then themes of what I talk about.
I shared the blog on twitter. Maybe I should share the videos.
So good! Have you shared this interview on linkedin/twitter?
